In June 2006, a group of students, practitioners, activists and academics interested in planning met in Oxford to talk about the marginalisation of progressive planning in the UK . The idea for a network was born at that meeting (you can read about it here), taking a lead from the already successful Planners Network based in North America. Like Planners Network, we have developed a (draft) statement of principles.
At present we have more than 150 members and, so far, our activities are wide ranging and organic. We try to meet regularly and also have a presence at the annual Planning Research Conference. You can see notes from our previous meetings here.
We would welcome the involvement of any group or individual interested in offering their support. For more information on how to get in touch, or get involved please contact us.
